OMG, thats was bat shit insane! (Well the last 2:30) But thanks for the tip on leaving voicemail. I agree with you 100% on hating voicemail. Maybe we should kill it just like HTML formated e-mail. »

Best way to leave a voicemail message is to not leave a message but instead SMS, try the mobile, email or call back in 5 minutes. The worst way to leave a voicemail message is to say ANYTHING after the tone. »

VM isn’t the devil. However, when leaving one, speak clearly, and speak your number as slowly, taking as much time to say it, as it takes you to write it down. In the US we have 10 digit numbers, and group them in a 3, 3, 4 pattern. Don’t go against this. Saying a 10 digit number should take about 8-10 seconds. »

Andrew, you can download an MP3 at that odeo link above. However, we are still waiting for the Ancient Phoenician throat-singer transcription of the podcast. »

Andrew, I might have this wrong, but I think the whole beauty of odeo is that the file already appears as an MP3. »

I’m a real fan of the “call, call, call & leave voicemail, call & leave follow-up voicemail to reiterate the the urgency in responding to the first voicemail though you’re taking more of my time by making me press-7-to-delete for the second time…” type of voicemail. Yeah, you just went into the tickler file, my dear caller. »
![]() When leaving a voicemail message,...Submitted by Ping (not verified) on November 9, 2005 - 5:26pm.
When leaving a voicemail message, i try to make minimizing roundtrips the number one priority — i leave as much information as necessary to save the other person from having to call me back. For example, if i’m trying to schedule a meeting with someone, just saying “call me back” doesn’t help (if i miss their call, and they leave a message that says “call me back”, we haven’t gotten anywhere). So i describe my schedule and tell them to pick a time. They call back to confirm, and even if i miss the call, we’re done, two messages max. »
