Introducing "Productive Talk" Podcast: 43 Folders meets David Allen

Sample from ‘Productive Talk: 43 Folders Meets David Allen’

Starting tomorrow (Tuesday), 43 Folders and the David Allen Company will be bringing you “Productive Talk,” a joint podcast series featuring audio of conversations that David and I had during a recent visit near his offices in Ojai.

This was a lot of fun for me to do, especially since it gave me the chance to ask David many of the questions that you and I have both had about Getting Things Done — so, as you might expect, there’s a heavy focus on implementation and best practices, as well as how to troubleshoot problems in your own GTD system. Lot of good stuff that I think you’ll enjoy and will learn from as much as I did.

Subscribers to the 43 Folders Podcast (subscribe now) will receive new episodes of “Productive Talk” automatically, although you can also just stop by either 43 Folders or The David Allen Company’s site for all the latest web-based updates.

Tomorrow’s inaugural episode is on procrastination, with more episodes coming once a week or so for the next few weeks.

Here’s a little sample from an upcoming episode to give you a taste of what’s coming:

So here I am looking...

So here I am looking at getting some classwork done and procrastinating because of the dishes all over, the fact i haven’t been on the bandwagon for three months, my GTD system is currently in disuse (again). And you’re telling me I have to wait until tomorrow for the episode on Procrastination? Oh dear… Okay time to stop procrastinating and get something done, after i finish breakfast.

I’ve tried subscribing through iTunes using both the 43 Folders iTunes listing and the manually-entered feedburner address, and it can’t download any of the episodes although it sees the feed list. I can get Productive Talk #1 if I go to Odeo and download the single file, but I’d like the automatic feed to work. Can you please check the feed Merlin?

Sweet! But David Allen must...

Sweet! But David Allen must start his day with a gallon of black coffee ‘cause he must be speaking about 200+ words a minute.

Now I’m really doomed to procrastinate ‘cause my brain can’t process what he’s said. Maybe I can mix The Now Habit with this podcast and add Procrastination Why you do it What to do about it just to get it ..

Merlin glad you’re home from T.dot and thanks for the interview with Frank.

Tweek the chimp then start!

That was my reaction, too. I didn’t think he’d be so, um, Tarantinesque.

[…] 2. Don’t be afraid to be controversial: [SPOILER AHEAD] The most current season sees the remnants of humanity under the stiletto-heeled pumps of some pretty hot Cylons. Although the authors have tried to use the occupation of France as a likeness for this season’s story, what others have noticed is how close it resembles the current Middle East conflict. Suicide Bombers. Insurgencies. Occupation of a repressed people. It goes on. Some blogs post about “evergreen” topics that have nothing to do with contemporary issues; even so, one way to inject some hot flavour into your every day posts is to try and bring in relevant and daily issues relevant to your industry or things of interest. Don’t shy away of bringing up topics of controversy; revel in it. Take a stand on some issues. You might alienate some, but you’ll attract a few more fans as well — and their respect as well. […]

Excellent news! My subconscious was secretly hoping for something like this to pop up. Merlin’s podcasts are fantastic and I eagerly await the next dose, and knowing that there’s a regular fix of GTD goodness coming my way gives me the ‘warm and fuzzies’.

Anyone have links to some other recorded pieces that ‘The David’ has done?

TIA to ‘The Merlin’ for what should be some great listening…
