Allen worked in the world of computerized newspaper typesetting and VAX/VMS consulting from 1967 until 1993, when he began working as a writer/lecturer for the Circle of Atonement in Sedona, AZ, teaching "A Course in Miracles." He is now retired, current President of the Portland Macintosh User Group (Oregon) and webmaster for his church.
