I transfer most of the contents of my Moleskines to computer files, mostly Tinderbox. Then I can search them, sort them into to do lists, whatever. After I’ve done this, I put this in the entry: (d.e. 11/18/2004). Every few days I go through looking for entries without this mark and enter them in. Makes it easy to keep track of what’s where. If I can’t find it on my computer, I go through the un-entered stuff in my notebook.
It might. The first thing I would try to do it use less of those things. As few as possible. Then decide. I’m always tempted to use too many tools. Tinderbox [1] is the ultimate for me, because I can turn that data into anything I like … web pages, text files, mind maps, outlines, whatever. It’s brilliant. Everything else I try to keep in DEVONthink [2]. That way I can search the crap out of it, no matter what it is, view it, and keep it in an outline. Cool program, that. The concordance feature is brilliant.
