I have been a front...
I have been a front pocket wallet user ever since my dad, and come to think of it his dad, taught me this as the “proper way” to carry ones money. Of course dear old Dad has a Constanza wallet in his right front trouser pocket, but that’s another issue.
I am a “Slim Slimmy” man now, though I have gone through a few other variations on the theme. I live in Norway, where you can do nearly everything either electronically or via your bankcard (debit visa) and the bankcard is considered official indentification while the driver’s license is not. Consequently, I just carry three cards most days: debit visa, driver’s license, and a US visa or AMEX. I don’t bother putting bills into the wallet, I just put a few hundred kroner (30usd or so) into my pocket with it. If I need to carry coins or get change during the day, that goes into my other front pocket. Keys, phone, PDA, transit pass: into my jacket pockets, computer bag, briefcase, or occasionally my “European Carryall” (it’s not a purse, dammit!).
I rarely put anything into my back pockets other than a guitar pick or sometimes my office badge when I go to the cantina.
