[…] A few days before leaving for a two-week trip, I felt so overwhelmed by the number of little tasks that had to be taken care of before leaving that I decided to start looking into this whole Getting Things Done movement seriously. I started off with cleaning out my three inboxes of about 200+ pending emails following the simple rules set out by Merlin Mann in this 43 folders post. I left September 15 with a very clean inbox, and came back on September 30 with a very manageable number of pending emails, mostly the stuff that I couldn’t take care of because I had only intermittent access to the internet while I was traveling. Boy, looking at an inbox with less than a dozen pending messages, most of which will be processed in the next couple of days, is such a liberating experience. […]
