Why would you need to take risks in solving problems?
If you ask the right questions and deal only in facts, then you will come up with a list of possible causes for the problem. i.e. possible causes that can actually explain all the symptoms and facts about the problem. Of that list you will have a most probable causes - usually the simplest explanation ; by considering all the facts rationally, you remove the risk.
