Improving Learning
Very interesting conversation which even got me to the point of registering to make a comment. Since I started teaching in 1975, we’ve gone through many different technologies. It’s fascinating to hear how people are enhancing record keeping, paper work, and presentation.
I’d also be interested to hear how teachers are using technology to facilitate learning, provide immediate feedback, engage students, and differentiate instruction to met individual needs.
For example, when a student can complete an assignment with a google search, copy, and paste—I’d argue that the problem isn’t plagiarism but rather the assignment.
How does technology help move us beyond how we have taught for years? Lecture, example, test, grade in groups of 30. Or does it?
Perhaps this is a bit off-topic, but then again for a teacher to be “productive”—opposed to efficient—that relies entirely on the learning & growth of students.
