I guess you can argue in favor of a “free-range” parenting approach using quite a few very good arguments. But using statistics is not one of those. The statistic that more kids are hurt by car accidents than are kidnapped in the subway is just a reflection of the fact that more kids ride cars than are left alone in the subway. Quite simple.
