Wow, the first three are SUV's.

My 2000 Plymouth Neon is still running like a top at 147,000 miles. I drive about 40 miles each way to work daily, do between 80 and 85 (lead foot and good cop karma) and still manage about 30 mpg.

It is fast and efficient - The car version of GTD.

Well, not that I need...

Well, not that I need to justify my choice for my dream truck, but to be fair I only drive 6,000 miles/year. So even at 13MPG City/17HWY it all averages out. Plus my wife's commuter car is a '98 Accord EX 4cyl. getting 19/28MPG. It should also be noted that in Phoenix, AZ in the Summer where it is 105-115 degrees the AC is running every moment the car is turned on.

Oh, and my truck hasn't been washed in 1.5 years, has no dead cows in the interior, and sure as shootin' no DVD player or anything of that sort. Golly, I'm so manly...

What was I saying about not feeling that I needed to justify my gas guzzling?

Most of the time, a bicycle :D

"My" car is a Renault Kangoo, 1.8 diesel, chosen for its carrying capacity (camping trips, band and PA, gardening supplies). It's also remarkably comfortable to drive.

"Her" car is a Peugeot 206, 1.4 diesel 'Urban', chosen as it's just about the cheapest diesel on the market, and the main dealer is on her way to work. Much more fun to drive than I expected.

Neither is an SUV, although the more recent Kangoos are trying to pretend.

Commuter Rail, Subway, and occationally the City Bus. And my own two feet.

I get a lot of reading done, and I get to laugh at all the people digging themselves out of snowbanks, complaining about the price of parking/gas/tolls, and the stress of driving in city traffic. (Unless they really do have no choice-- which is relatively rare in this area, but common in other parts of the US)

(Well, I'm not immune to the price of gas: it's one of the reasons for the proposed fare hike next year...)

1998 Subaru legacy wagon, hand-me-down. 151,000 mi. 32 mpg. But I live in a small town and only ever drive it to the grocery store. I wouldn't even have but my step-mom offered it to me for the trade-in value (woohoo). Also, it's silver so I don't ever have to wash it and it never looks all that dirty :D

I love my truck. I have always wanted cars or trucks that I can sleep in. Just in case I am ever homeless.

My punk rock roots never too far from me.

I am considering a hybrid right now, for my first new car purchase ever. I am 35.

I will be keeping the truck though as I have a house on a lake in Northern Wisconsin, and they dont always plow the road in the winter, so you need four wheel drive.

1999 Dodge Durango. It's killing me on gas, but to be fair, gas was right around a dollar per gallon when I bought the thing.

I walk (although I sometimes get the bus to work if the weather is bad).

Of course, I am lucky enough to work in the centre of Edinburgh and live just a short distance away (about 30 minutes walk at a reasonable pace). It was Edinburgh's insane parking regulations that made me sell my last car a few years ago. I had to park it about 20-30 minutes walk away from the flat that I was renting at the time, and it got way too annoying (there were several times that I "lost" the car because I had forgotten where I had parked it).

I have a co-worker and friend who spent two years working with a church in Peterhead, and she said that she walked pretty much everywhere. Or timed trips to the grocery with a neighbor. She stayed pretty trim over there, especially since she played soccer with the kids all the time!

I so want a Vespa! I've wanted one ever since I spent a semester in Italy back in 1999. But I don't think my girlfriend would ride it with me. Although she's said MAYBE if we lived in Italy... ;-)

I currently drive a 2000 Toyota Tundra (103,000 miles). I commute about 60 miles round trip each day, so I will probably invest in a VW Jetta with a TDI engine soon.

Mwaahahahaha. The evil seeds have been planted.

The VW TDI is a fantastic engine. Plus, you're going to get around 600 miles on a tank of Diesel I betcha.
