43Folders Chat
R. Emory Lundberg | Jul 8 2006
I invite you to stop in and chat in the 43Folders conference room I setup on my Jabber server. Nobody has asked for a real-time support group or anything, but I figure if anyone wants to chat about all things 43folders, there may as well be a place already setup for it. It requires XMPP or Jabber IM. If you don't know what that is, your best bet may be to use Google Talk. The conference is 43folders@chat.hellyeah.com. So, the room is "43folders" and the server is chat.hellyeah.com. Feel free to join in and say hello or something. If this isn't acceptable to the bulk of you and people think we need to move to IRC/campfire/whateverchat2.0, speak up and lets find a place where we can meet up. 15 Comments

I finally got GAIM installed...Submitted by michaelramm on August 10, 2006 - 8:30am.
I finally got GAIM installed and will start to be in the chat room regularly also. You can connect with your Gmail account, but not through GTalk. You need to get an actual Jabber client, like GAIM or any others to do it. Michael »

Ok, it's been a while since I Jabbered (back when it was first created)- do we need a password and jabber id for the server? or, do you use another jabber server to log in? Or, are you guys going through googleTalk jabberID/server, and connecting to the 43folders chatroom? »
You can use any XMPP/Jabber...Submitted by emory on August 17, 2006 - 10:06am.
You can use any XMPP/Jabber server you want. In your client you will have an option to join a conference or "room", we tend to chat in "43folders@chat.hellyeah.com" i.e. the "room" 43folders on server "chat.hellyeah.com". Some people hop in via Meebo so if you use that, it is still possible. iChat users: 'Go to chat' then type in 43folders@hellyeah.com, Adium users similar, Psi users, similar. Not sure about the official GoogleTalk client, as I don't use it! »

We had 2 new users...Submitted by michaelramm on August 17, 2006 - 1:25pm.
We had 2 new users today!! Allen made it in and Austin Moody dropped in. Me, Jason and emory ususally are on it all day...dropping in when we are at our desks. So everyone come in and join us for GTD, FP talk, or whatever. You cannot use GTalk to connect. You need to get a real Jabber client. You can see list at http://www.jabber.org/software/clients.shtml. I can recommend Psi and Gaim, on the Windows side. Jason uses Meebo (browser based client) and Emory uses some Mac software, Allen uses iChat and I don't know what Austin was using. So if you have any problems with any of those, post them here or hit us on IM and we will try to help in any way we can. - Michael »

I have used iChat, but I am currently doing most of my chatting with Adium because it allows me to be online with so many different id's. »
