MacWorld SF 06: What's not to miss?

Macworld - San Francisco 2006

O, MacLazyWeb, I invoke thee.

MacWorld is on over at the Moscone. I have my annual cheapskate "exhibits only" pass, and I'm prepared to blow a couple hours wandering around the floor some time this week. Ah, the sublime bazaar of chanting booth bunnies and free totebag offers. Good times!

My question to you: what's exciting on the show floor this year? Anything I shouldn't miss? Any exhibitors want to make a case to the Bay Area (and out-of-town) geeks reading this? Beckon us unto your booth (and do feel free to offer free schwag and discounts to 43F Geeks in the bargain :)). NB: the usual admonitions on self-linking are lifted for this one -- provided they're tasteful and do indeed point to info on your exhibiting company (yes, I'll check).

So, what's the happs, people?

I went to MacWorld yesterday,...

I went to MacWorld yesterday, and aside from the usual buttons and stickers and whatnot, there are a couple of booths giving out useful schwag.

Crumpler is doing a schwag trade-in at various times throughout the day. Ask the man in the white suit and bowtie when that is happening. I saw them give away a couple of bags yesterday.

Free & useful stuff: iKlear - free samples of screen cleaner Ricoh is giving out a keychain/screen duster as well as sharpie markers. Peachpit Press (I think) has a Cody's Books coupon for 10% off Speck Products is giving out Postcards of San Francisco (although they do have the electronics/speck products logo on it) elektex is giving out gadget stands quark is giving out mints as well as electronic yo-yos debra weiss of rebe has a business card that doubles as a magnet creatorsofsoftware.com are giving out a cd opener and a cd cleaner.

Notable to sees: Razer is showing off the Protouch, a keyboard with iPod dock. Omni Products is showing off OmniGraffle, a nice organizing tool. highergroundgear is showing off their laptop bags. I found their designs refreshing and innovative. harmon/kardon's drive/play installed in the bmw 325i is pretty cool. Delicious Library is being shown off in the 2005 Design Awards area -- it's a program that uses the isight to scan in bar codes from cds, dvds, etc and pull data off amazon to catalogue your media collection.

Cranking

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
