Plain text in Google Docs?

I was excited when Google Docs (formerly Writely) was opened to the public but was soon disappointed when I found out there was no option for saving as plain text. I know Mac OS 10.4 has an RTF to TXT conversion on the command line, but unfortunately I'm on 10.3.

Anyone know of a workaround? I've tried simple copy and paste, but there are some problems, especially if a document was originally created in Word or RTF format. As far as I can tell, the "strip formatting" button doesn't fully convert the document or get rid of all the rich text formatting. I'm frustrated that I have to go into my plain text file and take out all the unrecognizable characters and extra carriage returns.

Cranking

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
