Interesting 43F Stats

Talking blog stats is dull, tacky stuff, so I usually avoid it like the plague. But here’s a couple data points you might find interesting.

That’s a pie graph of current browser share for recent visits to 43F. Two things about this fascinate me:

  1. Over half of you guys are using Firefox. As someone whose 10-year mini-career on the web saw IE hit 90+% saturation, that’s an amazing stat. Yeah, sure, I know: you’re all geeks, plus the Boing Boing link probably skews current visits toward extra-crispy-dorky. Still, that’s a stat to be proud of. Good on you.
  2. Of non-FF users, there are more IE6 visitors than Safari visitors. Why is that so interesting? Because both browsers are unique to a platform and are, in fact, the default browsers on Windows and OS X, respectively. That surprises me. Suggests that either a) I haven’t been somac-centric” that it’s just unbearable to Windows people (*fingers crossed*) or b) a bunch of people are considering “The Switch” (*fingers still crossed*). Either way fascinating stuff.

Slightly off-topic, why has no one made a Greasemonkey script that knocks out any 43F post that mentions (Macs|GTD|Moleskines|Hipster PDA|other thing that drives you nuts)? I thought you guys were all prickly about stuff? Anyhow, if somebody makes it and it works well, I’d link to it.

Damn. 51%?

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
