How did people start singing “Sweet Caroline” at Red Sox games? Morning Edition puts Susan Orlean on the case:

Commentator Susan Orlean takes on a great mystery of baseball and a stadium anthem. She visits Boston’s Fenway Park to unlock the secret connection between the Red Sox, singer Neil Diamond, and loyal fans.

I won’t spoil the ending for you—it’s a very enjoyable little journey Orlean takes—but I like what it says about the simple roots of a popular meme.
