Open Thread: the iPhone, Apple TV, Steve's other announcements?

Apple - QuickTime - Macworld 2007 Keynote

Apple - iPhone

Wow. Everyone here in the MacBreak war room is still perspiring as we let it all sink in. OS X. On your phone. Damn.

So what do you guys think about Steve's announcements? What surprised you? What else do you wish you'd heard? What do you think it will mean to have running OS X on your mobile phone?

Thoughts: Need to get out...

Thoughts: Need to get out of my new-ish Sprint contract! Why only 4 and 8GB for a device that is supposed to be for video?! Kinda bummed there were only 2 product-related announcements (He didn't actually talk about the new Airport Extreme did he?) and that he nixed "One more thing...". Still, the iPhone is iHOT. Apple TV looks good too. (Surprised it had Ethernet and Wifi.) As soon as I realized it was the first product in years sporting the "Apple" name, the formal company name change was almost expected. At one point the Beatles were playing but there was no mention of Beatles catalog coming to iTunes Store was there? Lastly, what happened to Leopard? (Saving for WWDC, I guess.)

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
