Suggestions for categories and forum break-out?

Okay: so far, so good.

Next up, let's talk about the linchpin IMHO for a successful board (apart from its users of course): the categories and organization.

Again, random thoughts to get things rolling.

* separate areas for different technologies
* lofi & paper
* mac
* linux
* wintel
* pda/mobile
* areas for the most popular topic areas
* productivity and time management (including procrastination, GTD, etc.)
* life hacks
* writing, making, and general creativity
* mind and spirit (stress reduction, meditation, etc.)
* grabass, "anything goes" area
* admin - general throat clearing and announcements

Bang on it. Too much? Too little? Where do we most need to see breakouts?

Minimal Categories, since a post...

Minimal Categories, since a post can only be in one place. If we could TAG posts (ala del.icio.us) then lots of catefories is good. But separate areas will tend to create cliques.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
