Not Next Actions

What do you do with things that don't really need to be done right away? They're definitely not next actions, but they're not quite ARE Someday/Maybes. Or maybe they ARE Someday/Maybes and I don't know it yet. Sometimes I feel like they fall somewhere in between; they're more half-baked ideas of things I'd like to do but don't really have the time, need, or tools or environment to do them.

What do you do with such things?

Also, does GTD create too much of a tendency to box everything into various categories, a very Western and Aristotelean tendency?

Well, a lot of them...

So would that go in the Someday/Maybe category? Or stuff to incubate for a while?

I would put them as Someday/Maybe. You won't forget about them, but they wont be constantly in your face.

Someday you'll come across them in your review and you'll say "ah, yes, I have the tools/time/guts to do that now," and move them into an active project.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
