Fountain Pen Perverts: Question about 'Feel' between two Lamy F nibs

So here's the deal.

I have a Lamy Safari and a Lamy Studio, both with a F nib.

The Safari writes smoothly and beautifully.

The Studio feels "sharp". Like it isn't getting enough ink. It also gets more ink on the top of the nib than the Safari. I don't know if something is wrong with it or what!

They both have the same converters and both use Lamy washable blue ink.

Any ideas?

Interesting. I'd describe the...

Interesting. I'd describe the feeling of it being sharp and the feeling of it not getting enough ink as two different things.

If it's sharp, the thing to do is polish it. 1500 grit or finer wet-dry sandpaper works pretty well for polishing pen nibs, I think. I've only done this with cheaper pens that I've felt free to experiment on (grinding my own cursive italic nibs, for example).

Flow problems could be due to the two halves of the nib being misaligned or clogged with something. You could try flossing between them, but be careful not to bend them or to get bits of floss stuck in there.

And finally, it could just be a difference in the pens; different pens feel different. But if you think there's really a problem, and you don't feel comfortable trying to fix it yourself, you could send it off to someone experienced like Richard Binder. I just got a Pelikan M200 with a custom-ground fine cursive italic nib from him, and I'm very happy with it and with the service.
