”What’s 43 Folders?”
43Folders.com is Merlin Mann’s website about finding the time and attention to do your best creative work.

Tracks::GTD who's using it?

I came to read this forum to get ideas before starting a Ruby on Rails (a web development system) project to do 43 folders.

I found in nearly the last post I read a reference to Tracks::GTD (http://www.rousette.org.uk/projects/).

Being a Ruby on Rails app, you can just install Ruby, then Rails on your computer (Windows, Linux, OSX...) and in a few minutes have Tracks running.

It looks good to me so far.

Who else is using it? any comments or pointers?

Sorry Billy, I saw it LATE...

Sorry Billy,

I saw it LATE last night and forgot about it this morning...:(

Are you trying to install 1.03 or 1.04?

I just followed the instructions and it worked. It does usually take more than the 10 minutes they state to get the MySQL DB in place...after checking for an hour, I just waited a day, then it was there. The install instructions are in 'installation.html' at the root of the Tracks directory, or you can look at my install instructions.

What point have you gotten to in the install? The WEBrick is already installed inside the Tracks dir.

This:

* Run 'rake migrate', which will create the necessary tables in your database, including some required contents:

cd /PATHTO/TRACKS
rake migrate

did NOT work for me.

I had to do this:

If you find that 'rake migrate' doesn't work for you (there have been reports of it not working well with the MySQL distributed with InstantRails on Windows), you can use the command rake db_schema_import which will do the same thing.

and then it worked beautifully.

If you want you can email me at michaelramm[at]gmail.com, for quicker responses.

Michael
