Weekly Meeting Schedule Generator, Anyone?

A long while ago I was in a group that scheduled weekly meetings every quarter. It was an academic environment, so schedules changed rarely for about 10 weeks and then drastically changed after those 10 weeks. (in other words, there were countably many discontinuities in our schedules)

So every week a bunch of us would write down our weekly schedules on paper (with an hourly resolution), put them in a big stack, and try to punch holes to mimmick an overlay of all of them.

This got old, so I put together this little application:

http://schedule.tedpavlic.com/

Eventually more people around the campus started using it, and lately I have been getting more feedback on it, so I figured I may as well go public with it.

The idea is that you create an account, login, creating a scheduling group, and then have your group members create accounts, enter their weekly schedules (graphically on a grid showing every hour of the week), and then subscribe to your group. You will then be able to view an overlay of all of their schedules (or select a subset of them).

This is not meant to be a calendar application. It's just meant to be a good way to view weekly schedules of people who do not store their calendars in a standard way that makes them more easily accessible.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
