Anti-Distraction-Vana for Windows

Hi, fellow Windows-slaves!

On the tail of this post (http://www.43folders.com/2006/02/23/against-distraction/), I put a comment asking for tools, tips and thoughts on avoiding/killing/reducing distraction on a Windows desktop.
The Wizard himself suggested this as a topic for the board, so here I am !

What are some tips, tools, thoughts, hacks, jokes you use to reduce your distraction when using Windows as the OS ?
Here are some of mine, copied from the comment on the post:

*Auto-hide your taskbar. Not only creates more desktop real-estate, it also hides the 3 Firefox buttons that are shown on mine right now.

*Any tool out there to emulate Mac's Command+H? Would love to have something like that in Windows. There are some tools that will send windows to the tray, but I am not sure that is something anyone would like (1 more icon in the tray??? geez...)

*Has anyone ever tried this thing called Deskloops (http://www.xilokit.com/deskloops/) (no affiliation) ? I tried it but it didn?t feel comfortable for me. Very cool, tho. Any other comments ?

*Lifehacker.com just announced TimeSnapper a couple of days ago (http://www.lifehacker.com/software/time-tracker/download-of-the-day-timesnapper-156042.php). It takes screenshots of the desktop at regular intervals. I use it for my guilt trip at the end of the day, to make myself painfully aware of how much I was web surfing instead of actually working. Masochistic ? Perhaps? but it?s working for me.

C'mon, people! Ante up !

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless
