Metadata Archiving and Retrieval

I've read that Copernic will index the contents of the fields in document properties windows.

This of course has immediate potential for someone who wants to put appropriate tags on files, so they are instantly available when it's archive-retrieval time.

But I JUST DUMPED COPERNIC in favor of Yahoo Desktop Search. Copernic seemed a bit too lax on its "scheduled" index updates. That is, sometimes, a moved email would not get updated in the index for several days, despite the fact that I had Copernic configured to update its index each day at 2AM. Maybe I'll just need to second guess myself and reinstall it, because frankly that is KILLER.... I HATE HAVING TO DO THAT.

Does anyone else know if there are other desktop search tools that index such properties fields? And if not, for the love of Beavis, why not?

Thanks!
