”What’s 43 Folders?”
43Folders.com is Merlin Mann’s website about finding the time and attention to do your best creative work.

Greetings from CO!

OK - this isn't exactly my first post, but I had a question on my mind and wanted to get that out of the way first...

I'm new to the board but have been a longtime 43F reader. I'm a high school administrator who is constantly trying to "get more done" during the day while managing the constant stream of students and parents who "pop-in" unannounced and need a problem solved.

Of course, the unpredictability is one of the reasons I love my job, but it can be a PITA to "get things done" when your regular daily routine is anything but regular.

Like many, I'm a techno-gadget-geek but also a paper-planner user. I've tried a Palm, a Treo, an Axim, a Blackberry, and just about any other productivity tool you can imagine. The fact remains, though, I like a phone that's mostly just a phone, and I like to write. Actually write. On paper.

I always enjoy hearing from other teachers and administrators about their particular productivity "hacks."

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
