tedium - lightweight, taggable to-do lists, looking for beta testers
amcewen | May 24 2006
After reading Getting Things Done (naturally) and a couple of abortive attempts to get my to-do lists computerized, I've finally come up with a system that works. It's a simple, pared-down approach to defining tasks - there's a one-line description of the action, an optional due date, and an optional free-form list of tags for each task. That means it doesn't get in the way of me capturing everything I need to do, and the tags let me slice and dice the list of things I need to do. I've been using it to manage everything I've got to do for a few months now, and I think it's now reached a point where it's useful for other people to use. So I hereby launch this app tedium. May all who use her be productive. (Or in slightly more boring terms, please join the beta testing and let us know what you think :-) Thanks. 7 Comments

Doh! Of course it worked fine when I tried it just after posting to check... Thanks for letting me know. It seems to be an intermittent timeout problem, which means that a reload should correct the problem if you see it again. Of course, the fix needs to be made in part of the web server configuration I don't have access to, and so will take a little bit longer as I'll have to get my hosting provider to apply it for me... »

Works now. Looks pretty neat. I'm tied into kGTD now, so I won't be testing it further than what I just did, which was to play with a temporary account. But I like it. (p.s. I fear I'd abandon more tasks than necessary, just to see the cool disappearing effect.:o ) »

Are you long-range plans to leave this a hosted solution? Or will there be a source/package release somewhere down the road? »

A hosted service is the current plan, as I think it's the easiest for most users (particularly the not-so-technical ones) - no install or upgrade problems, no need for their own web server, access from anywhere there's Internet access, etc. (It makes things a bit easier for us too as we don't have to worry about testing on all sorts of different servers, databases, and the like :-) »
