Keratin lifehack: growing a beard

The first time I grew a beard was to see how I'd look. Subsequent beards were fraught with meaning. They were hair-based timers and totems of resolve. I, at various times, resolved not to shave until I submitted the thesis, hooked up with a new girlfriend, went a month without a beer, etc.. There was always the playoff beard.
