kGTD questions

I'm considering purchasing a omnioutliner pro license so I can use kGTD. I just have a few questions.

Firstly, you DO need the pro version of omnioutliner to use kGTD don't you?
Am I right in saying that my (lovely brand new) macbook contains omnioutliner version 3 already, so all i would need to buy from the omni site is an upgrade from version 3 to version 3 pro?
If I were to reformat/start my mac again (ok, I admit I'm a switcher, so I don't know what term you use for starting the mac again :p) would that mean I have to purchase another license? How exactly does the licensing thing work I guess is what I'm asking here as I'm considering to start/reformat my mac soon and I'd hate to get a license then not be able to use omnioutliner again after a reformat.

I think this is all I need to know for now. Thanks :)
