My Lofi System
Scott Elias | Jan 24 2007
I finally decided it was time to start documenting what I'm considering to be version 1.0 of my "trusted system." I'm putting it here rather than the GTD sub-forum because - well - I wrote more about the tools than the methodology and most of the tools are decidedly low-tech. As I have mentioned before, it does not approach the comprehensive whitepapers that emory, Patrick, and others have posted, but it was a start for me to just formalize things by putting them in writing. 16 Comments

Don't sell yourself short. I think it is a great start. It also is motivating me to order up one of those Circa starter kits and see what they are like. Great post! I like how you've laid out your Circa. I'm still formulating my main notebook, but right now I have tabs for notes, calendar, project support, and contacts. And thanks for the mention on the circa paper. I'm glad you've used it. »

It would be nice to have a Circa system to bring those more into project form and using the punch to add supporting material to the whole deal... Gosh, I think I hear my wallet starting to hum. »
Levenger sponsor?Submitted by Ironman on January 26, 2007 - 6:30am.
You know we should be sponsored Levenger spokespeople. Or at least Levenger should look into advertising or sponsoring on 43folders.com. Ok back on subject... I like the write up of your system. Always great to hear how one incorporates their life with a GTD system and how it works and such. I've been toying with the same idea of a write up about my system. I just keep changing things and I don't feel I have had one trusted system in place for long. Such a perfectionist... I recently re-read GTD and I just got done listening to GTD Fast. That has made me look at things and begin to simplify and see what I actually use instead of what I wish I would use. I'm starting to simplify things and eliminate unneeded steps or actions that eat away at my time and my mind. Also, reducing the number of buckets. I'm happy to say the Circa Jr. is a part of that trusted system and the more I think about it, the more I should incorporate it into other things in my life. »
I think Levenger should start...Submitted by ScottE22 on January 26, 2007 - 7:30pm.
I think Levenger should start mining this site for product testimonials... Patrick -- It's easy to drop some serious startup cash with the Circa line, but well worth it IMHO. Ironman - thanks for the kind words!! I hesitated for a long time to write up anything because it was just too fluid. I finally feel like I hit on a version 1.0 so I decided to document it. As much for myself as for those who are curious. »
Flow chart?Submitted by Ironman on January 27, 2007 - 5:43am.
One thing I've always considered is if I did do a write up, I would like to include a flow chart. I had a while back to show how everything was flowing, but again I've never stuck with one system long enough to actually document it. I'm a visual person, so the flow chart always appealed to me. »

Patrick -- It's easy to drop some serious startup cash with the Circa line, but well worth it IMHO. Well it may be a little bit before I dive in. I really have been lusting after the new Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. Being that I still use Backpack as an integral part of my system, being able to have easier to carry internet access is highly attractive... That being said, I have to say that I have been almost exclusively using my Ballistic Shirt Pocket Briefcase for capture and that has been working quite well. I have really fallen in love with the Levenger 3x5 cards. They are so bright and easy on the eyes and they take ink so well. It is so convenient to have the SPB in my back pocket. Much more so than my Moleskine ? hence it has been getting less and less use. »
Patrick - that Internet tablet...Submitted by ScottE22 on January 27, 2007 - 7:34pm.
Patrick - that Internet tablet is awesome!! Ironman - I think a flowchart would be interesting. My write-up to this point doesn't really deal with "flow" so much as "hardware" so you've inspired me to start to think about the other (arguably more important!) aspect of my system.. »
GTD Flow v0.1Submitted by Ironman on February 2, 2007 - 8:47am.
I drew up a GTD Flow chart last weekend and I scanned it and uploaded it to my flickr site with notes. Please note this is v0.1. I just scratched this out to get it out of my head mostly. I'm in the process of tweaking a few things so this will change. I'm in an effort to get to v1.0 of a Trusted GTD System. »
