DIY Planner: Printer?

I love the DIY Planner templates but my printer doesn't get all the shading right, so sometimes the templates are a bit hard to read (esp the hpda ones). It's a HP Laserjet 1100 (probably ancient by today's standards).

what printer are you using or at what resolution are you printing the templates for best results?
