To Do List option for the iPhone

One of the complaints about the iPhone is that there is no way to create a to do list. While I don’t have a perfect solution, I do have an idea that can get you started.

Create a password protected blog and enable comments. Each blog entry is a “To Do” item and you can keep track of how you are doing on the project with the comments section.

Here’s the how-to using iWeb:

1) Create a New Page using the pull down menu or the handy + button at the bottom. From the template of your choice, select the blog.

2) Open the Inspector (bottom right of the page). Choose “Password” under the “Site Inspector” tab (with the picture of the .mac globe). Click the box to enable password protection. Next, select the “Blog and Podcast Inspector” (the one with RSS written on it) and check the “Allow Comments” box.

3) Create a separate entry for each project you want to include for your list. These can be short but it is a good way of making sure that you have that shopping list when you are trying to remember if you need toilet paper.

Now, as I said, this isn’t a perfect solution. You will need to be connected to the web to access your list and add updates. My grocery store, for example, does not have good reception. However, once you have the page up on Safari, it will stay there in the cache.

I hope this helps.

IPhone tip notes hack

I have come up with a work around for keeping live notes on the iPhone. It’s real simple, first you have to be using a IMAP email setup. I just keep notes in the drafts box to keep all of my notes synced with my my iPhone and my mail client. Completely editable for both systems. Just make sure to point the same (Drafts by default) folder in both the phone and your email client, some email clients make different names by default.

To do syncing on the iPhone open the email in the draft folder, make your edit changes, click the cancel button and the save button. Couple of quirks are if you go back and forth before the server synchronizes you can end up with two copies. Just synchronize the email client with the server.

iphone decision help

I too would like to find any addtional info on if the iphone is a good tool for assisting in a personal productivity plan. I’ve seen some of the posts about iphone work arounds but can someone please post some direct links to info about if the iphone is a good support tool for a productivity system. I’m currently reading Linenberger’s Total Workday Control as part of my 2008 plan to get organized. Thanks

iNozbe

Nozbe is a free GTD Web App that has one of the better implementations for the iPhone. I just started using it and so far it seems like a great implementation. It may be what you are looking for.
