SuperDuper

Ok, so I just started using Superduper. What’s the best setting for back up?

Should I copy each file, that’s what I did, or make a Disk Image?

Is one option better than the other?

Re: SuperDuper

I think writing a complete clone is the best way.

A clone is an exact, bootable copy of your entire computer. Once you make the initial clone with SuperDuper, every other sync only takes a fraction of the time. This is because SD only syncs up the files that have changed. The other reason cloning is the best is that you don’t have to think about which files are important, which have changed, etc. SD does that for you. Further, if your main Mac gets mucked up, you can just copy over this exact clone copy.

I set SuperDuper to copy over to another drive at 4:30am every morning. I rarely have to think about it.

About JohnnyB

JohnnyB's picture

Bio

Johnny is a fanboy. An un-organized one, but a fanboy never the less. He loves Mac (he’s new to the Mac universe, but he’s sold out) and if the MacBreak guys say he should buy something, or download something, or look at something or…you get the idea, he does.

Johnny works at a place called Saddleback Church and is trying to bring many of the people there kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

Oh, Johnny’s wife wants you to know that he loves her very much and his daughters say they’re awesome. Which he does and they are.
