Track keywords all over the place with MonitorThis

MonitorThis

Your ability to ego-surf yourself (or, I suppose, just track a favorite "non-you" topic) is now a lot easier.

Tell MonitorThis your desired search terms, and it obligingly spits out an OPML file full of RSS feeds for tracking your quarry on 15 different search engines, including, Ice Rocket, Technorati, Flickr, and more.

(This so aptly summarizes much of what's both fascinating, powerful, and incredibly creepy about the Interweb today.)

Hey, I wrote a little...

Hey, I wrote a little ditty about MonitorThis on my site.

Thanks for coming out.

For me , MonitorThis is an amazing tool for tracking concepts I'm interested. I found that I get a lot of really surprising connections through it, especially by keeping the search term as vague as possible. These sorts of random, magical connections are similar to what Steven Berlin ist talking about in his artical Tool for Thought, about the way he uses DevonThink to give him surprising yet relavant connections between seemingly unrelated bits of info.

In that sense, MonitorThis is a great way to make lateral connections between the way a great many different minds think of a similar topic. cool stuff

Dave.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
