What does everyone do for a living

What does everyone do for a living? Just curious. Want to see if I can relate to anyone and how GTD plays out in their work. I am a manager for a restaurant. 62 Comments

I wonder to what extent this is because most PhD students I know are really thrown in at the deep end - suddenly you've got a lot of independence and it can be really easy to procrastinate, or spend time on the more interesting parts of your work at the expense of getting the results which are actually going to form the backbone of your thesis. For instance I find I love thinking about new directions, new experiments etc, but once I need to just repeat the experiments over and over (tweaking the conditions, but they're basically the same) it starts to feel dull and I stop working on it. That sounds like me exactly. I love starting projects- doing the initial background, thinking up experiments, etc.- when I need to start doing experiments- that's where things get difficult. GTD is really good at helping lay out what I *actually* have to do- especially since I am mildly ADD and am prone to forget little details such as setting out key solutions to thaw 2 hours before the experiment starts, making sure that we have x reagant, etc. » POSTED IN:
