Religious Backgrounds

After reading the GTD 'cult' thread, I thought I'd ask what kind of religious or philosophical backgrounds everyone comes from. It may be too sensitive a topic (just like at parties, you shouldn't talk about religion or politics), but it'd be interesting to see where people are coming from. Obviously some see a Buddhist influence in GTD, and others may see something else? Or others (like myself) come from a different background and wouldn't know the difference.

Again, I know it's a pretty big can of worms, but I think the people around here are thoughtful enough to take everything in stride. There are quite a few thinkers here.

Talk About A Difficult Question

Raised Catholic. Have gone through bouts of increased Catholicism. Now on the outs with God (a mutual feeling, I'm sure). Currently going through the motions because our oldest needs to start Sunday School (until he's old enough to question and decide for himself he needs to have some religious grounding).

I was born a Catholic and will die a Catholic. Just not a "good" Catholic. I think I'm more fascinated with the Church (and Her development) as a political/business/social entity than in the religion side of things.

I think Bill and Ted summed it up pretty well: Be excellent to each other.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
