The ultimate Quicksilver Thread

Let's make this the The ultimate Quicksilver Thread. But I really think a own Category would suit our needs alittle bit better. Merlin? Is this Board supporting Subcategories?

Let's start with Websearches through QS: I don't get why i have to select the search action before I can use the variable input field? It's just confusing. My Question is: how can I arrange the various search Targets like I can arrange e.g. the Mail actions?

applescript, QS, and slideshows

Thanks Dan :) My problem is precisely to make an Applescript to run a Slideshow. I don't know how to do that....(is it a feature of the Finder ??)

When I say that QS "is not" scriptable :
Quicksilver has the "Slideshow" action (through a plugin) but I can't write an Applescript with

Tell Application "Quicksilver"
run "Slideshow" action ....
end tell

for instance :)

You're both right: 1) QS is great for running applescripts, 2) QS is not great for being scripted itself (that info is directly from the Blacktree forums, where I was asking about how to script QS)

In reference to the slideshow action:

that action itself doesn't seem to be scriptable either from Finder's dictionary, the GUI scripting, or from QS. (macsripter.com forums are a great resource)

there is also no automator action to allow a finder slideshow.

(I'm guessing that the Finder slideshow is a new "gee-whiz" addition that doesn't have a lot of basic support.)

As an alternative to an applescript:

1. invoke QS
2. cmd-G (gets the Finder selection)
3. tab, and show slideshow

Of course, it's a few more keystrokes than a simple trigger.http://board.43folders.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
