The ultimate Quicksilver Thread

Let's make this the The ultimate Quicksilver Thread. But I really think a own Category would suit our needs alittle bit better. Merlin? Is this Board supporting Subcategories?

Let's start with Websearches through QS: I don't get why i have to select the search action before I can use the variable input field? It's just confusing. My Question is: how can I arrange the various search Targets like I can arrange e.g. the Mail actions?

hey pooks, what you describe above...

hey pooks,

what you describe above is not appending. see the first screenshot on this page:
http://www.43folders.com/2005/11/21/qs-redux/

basically, the advantage to appending is that you do not need to open the document, or switch to a text editor program to add information. point being, is that if you are in the middle of editing a photo, and you suddenly have some thought you don't want to forget (e.g. buy eggs) -- you can quickly pull up quicksilver, hit "." and add 'buy eggs' to your 'grocery.txt' file -- all without ever leaving your photo editor application. this allows for less interruption in your work (and getting sidelined by looking at your grocery list -- 'hmm...i should go shopping soon because i really need to get item x for party z...' and so on).

i particularly like merlin's idea of using a hotkey for the kinkless gtd script that he describes as putting your steroids on steroids here: http://www.43folders.com/2005/11/04/kgtd-keeps-getting-better/

initially, i couldn't quite figure out how to do that, but finally found the answer here http://kinkless.com/node/107

- Open QS Preferences.
- Select Triggers on left side.
- Click "+" for new trigger.
- Type "KGTD" to navigate to the script.
- Hit Tab.
- Hit Save.

although i had to manually navigate to the script to select it -- you can find the script in this folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/Actions/ (you can type ~ in qs and it puts you to the user folder and then use the arrow keys to navigate the folders.)

i set it up to be apple-shift-k as my hotkey. so no matter what i'm doing, i hit that, type in something i want to remember, and it will end up in my inbox in my kgtd document.

setting up the append can be tricky (plug-in's etc), so just refer to that first link, which describes how to set it up and troubleshoot that feature in detail.

good luck
