The ultimate Quicksilver Thread

Let's make this the The ultimate Quicksilver Thread. But I really think a own Category would suit our needs alittle bit better. Merlin? Is this Board supporting Subcategories?

Let's start with Websearches through QS: I don't get why i have to select the search action before I can use the variable input field? It's just confusing. My Question is: how can I arrange the various search Targets like I can arrange e.g. the Mail actions?

Is the point that by invoking QS and typing in the name of my (for example) grocery file, it will show up in the window for me to choose and open and I can then add to it? Is that appending?

Nope, it's much, much cooler than that!

You do have to have the "text manipulation" plug-in installed, I believe.

Invoke QS by control-space (or whatever you use)

Type "." to get into text input mode

Type your text

Hit to switch to the action panel

Select "Append To..."

Hit again to switch to the 3rd (object) panel which has miraculously appeared as you selected "Append To..."

Type whatever you need to to select the destination file, and hit return.

As Emeril would say, "Bam!" your text is now appended to that file.

As a bonus, if you invoke QS again, whatever you typed the last time is sitting there waiting for you to edit and use elsewhere, or as a shell command, applescript, etc. Lots of good stuff in that module!

A general warning: use QS for a few days, and you'll feel hopelessly lost when you have to use a machine that doesn't have it! I only use the tiniest fraction of QS's power, I'm sure, having never really sat down and done much exploration, but I dread the time I need to spend on my 10.2 machine because QS isn't lurking in the background ready to do my bidding.
