managing long text files

hi:
i have plenty of ebooks as text files, personal notes and more. On my pda i have a program called isilo to manage them. The good thing about isilo is that if I open a file it continues were i left so it is very practical to read books or deal with long text files.

i was wondering which app do you recommend to do this on osx.

thanks

Emacs can do everything

Emacs is a very featureful, extensible text editor, and among the millions of things it can do, it will save your place in every document you open with it. It is an ancient and powerful program with many mysteries, and may seem strange to a Mac user. However, there are Cocoa versions of Emacs, so you are not stuck running it in your terminal, or in X11.

(One of these days I will have to get GNUStep working on my computer again, and try out the Cocoa version of Emacs.)
