Palm View: Private Tasks issue - please help!
evbart | Mar 3 2006
I just switched from an Axim X3i with Windows Mobile 2003 and pocket informant to a Treo 650. I was syncing with Outlook on my laptop and my home desktop. My old GTD implementation basically involved 12ish context tags (@home, @computer, etc) and the public/private checkbox to keep my work/personal tasks separate. I had 2 views on my pocketpc. 1) so i could see my private tasks with all their contexts 2) so i could see all my non-private tasks with all their contexts. All was good with the world... except i really wanted to have a treo, so i have have my gtd system with me all the time. So the big problem, is how do i get my treo to filter my tasks by public/private. The tasks themselves are showing the "private" checkbox, and it is syncing correctly with Outlook. This means the only step left is a way to switch between viewing all non-private, all private, or both. I can't believe i cant find help for this anywhere on the web, and im a mess without a fully functional GTD solution. Any help would be appreciated! Evan 3 Comments

Thats not what I am trying to do. For some reason the concept of "private" seems to mean something different on Palm (its much more related to the sensitivity/security of the data). Masking hiding just gets rid of them. I want to be able to click on a "personal view" ive created in tasks, and see just my private tasks, then click on a "work view" and see just the "non-private" tasks (with the private ones hidden). that way i can see all my GTD categories/contexts related to my personal life in one section, and all my GTD categories/contexts related to work in another. it was a great system that worked well on my PocketPC, but now i cant find any way to do it on my treo. a lot of programs let you have create and save different views so that with the click of a button, you just see the information you need at that time, and not all the other clutter. » POSTED IN:
