Unplug

Talk about unplugging. The latest Bruno Aveillan ad for Loius Vuitton is the sweetest little homage to letting go. God this guy can make 'just being' the sexiest damn thing in the world. This clip is like transcendental meditation on ecstasy. My life hack resolution this week is to slip a volume of Pablo Neruda into my brief case and to somehow find a half hour in my workday to step off the gerbil wheel and just be...

These are amazing commercials...

I love the feel of this commercial but the first time I saw it on TV I got this horrible feeling of backlash. I was really into it and thought, "Wow, this is surprisingly deep for a television commercial" (Albeit, the phrases weren't new, but definitely worth pondering again) Then I saw the LV fading in at the end and I audibly said, "NO, Agghh" when I saw what it was for. I just thought, "This message could have been used for so much more." Still I liked the vibe, and while it won't be coercing me to purchase LV bags, I whole heartedly agree that some "being" time would be an excellent thing this week.

(I'll have to check out some Neruda. The name was dropped a few times last year in the Literature course I audited but I never got around to looking for his work.)

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
