Shadow Plan 4 beta for OSX

codejedi.com - Shadow Plan for Palm OS

The new public beta of Shadow Plan 4 for OSX came out today, and it looks pretty neat (more in terms of functionality than the Java-y interface, but that’s a small quibble).

In the same way that Tinderbox is the ideal mental model of Getting Things Done for many Mac users, I understand that Shadow Plan’s combination of flexible desktop outliner and Palm app has performed a similar role for PC users. I’d downloaded a much more primitive beta in November or so, and, even then, could definitely see how it would eventually be pretty cool. Now we finally get a taste of the real deal.

I wish I had more time to play with this this week (even this post will be a lot shorter than I’d like), but I do encourage OSX fans of Palm and GTD to at least give this a spin. There’s an awful lot to like here, especially for the less tech-y, command-line-y folks out there. Be sure to look at all the stuff in the un-archived folder. There are tips, contributed materials, and a getting started guide in html.

My very first impression is that if I can automate a MacNoteTaker style sync [in this case from txt to xml and back on the fly], this could very well be my killer app. Time will tell, (and time will have to wait until at least this weekend, I’m afraid).

(Thanks: Matt Morss for the timely tip.)

You know, I wouldn't think...

You know, I wouldn't think a full-fledged OS X version of this would be too hard to bang out. A functional version could probably be done in the space of a weekend.

Well, guess I know what I'm doing this weekend...
