Keyboards get you into the zone. The mouse breaks your stride (though not if you're a designer). What throws you is the transition -- from keyboard to mouse or vice-versa.

This seems like an appropriate cue to pimp one of the greatest purchases I've made in the past couple of years, the Fingerworks Touchstream. It's a keyboard made of a touch sensitive material that allows it to be used for mousing. On top of that it recognizes an astonishing number of (customizable) gestures so you can cut, paste, open, save, what have you with a flick of the fingers or a twist of the wrist. No more pausing to reach for the mouse again.

Now if they would only bring back their MacNTouch drop-in PowerBook keyboard replacement...
