who is using plain txt to gtd?

hi:

Who is using any of the plain txt solutions to implement gtd?

I have tried the todotxt.com script but found it a bit limited.

I am using kgtd and I miss some of the features in other systems.

Like the actions page, the outline capabilities, being able to enter tasks using quicksilver, easily apply contexts etc...

I hate the sync button in kgtd and that the file is oo3 so i want to move to something txt based but didnt find a proper solution yet.

What do you recommend?

I am using TextMate's GTDalt bundle. Using this bundle actually puts a .gtd file extension on it so it could not truly be ".txt", but the files are all text. It can easily utilize Quicksilver, however, because it uses an "inbox" .txt file for capture. If you have TextMate you should look into it.

I know a lot of...

I know a lot of people use emacs org-mode. I imagine some of them will be chiming in here soon.

I use Vim Outliner for project planning. It has checkboxes, nice color highlighting, and is lightning fast.

It wouldn't be too hard to add context symbols (@home, @office, etc.) to each action and then set up a script to pull out and organize actions by context.

org-mode user, chiming in.

I, indeed, use org-mode for emacs for my GTD needs (at home on GNU/Linux and at work on MS Windows). It does pretty much what I need it to. There is a document on using org for GTD here, though the author uses org-mode quite differently than I do.

The important thing with org mode is that the intersection of two things, TODO-keywords and tags, allows you to generate all of the different kinds of lists (projects, next actions, someday-maybe and context-filtered next actions) that you will use in GTD. Org-remember provides a facility for collection when you are @computer. The link markup in org also allows you to link to reference material, whether text in your GTD file, text in another file, a non-text file, or a URL.

Hope this helps.

Actually, you can enter tasks to kgtd with quicksilver. There is a "Send to kGTD" which is placed in your ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/Actions/ folder.

Apropos of almost nothing

Jason, I just have to say I love your icon. It's nice to see another Miyazaki fan (in my other life, I moonlight as a reviewer of Asian films at Heroic Cinema). The man's such a massive talent: in fact, the whole Studio Ghibli gang are magic.

Carry on, everyone. ;)

How do you set your moniker descriptions? I notice mine is member and Unstuffed is Miss Crankypants and jason is self-transforming machine elf. How do you set that preference?

User CP -> Edit Profile (tah dah!).

And thanks for the props, Unstuffed. The scarecrow avatar is indeed from Howl's Moving Castle.

You know, I've been up...

You know, I've been up and down that damn control panel and this is the first time that I saw the custom user title field.
