Retagging files?

For several months, I've been tagging attachments I receive on e-mails with the tag "&email," the sender, the date it was sent, and any other tags I want (all via an AppleScript folder action), and it's worked great. Quicksilver makes it really easy to, say, find all the attachments I've been sent from any particular coworker, and when I change the filename, the metadata stays intact. Beautiful.

The problem -- now I want to actually archive my emails as text files. And I want all the files on my machine currently tagged with "&email" to be retagged as "&attach."

Is there any easy way to retag many files?

TagBot makes tagging easier. While the program isn't free ($20), the program will keep up to 6 tags without registering. (You can more than 6 tags on your system; TagBot will only work with a max of six at a time when unregistered.)

After you have TagBot running and the CM (contextual menu) plug-in installed, activate the palette and add your "attach" tag (you won't need the "&"; TagBot adds that).

In the Finder, select the files whose tags you want to change. Activate the CM, choose Add Tag and select your "attach" tag in the sub-menu. While the files are still selected, activate the CM, choose Remove Tag and select your "email" tag in the sub-menu.

Really, TagBot's a great program, allowing searches, easy global tag removal and other great features. I'm a happy fan.
