Mimic Backpack functionality on OSX

I really like the idea of Backpack (http://backpackit.com) where you can have one page showing a group of related files, to-do lists, and date-based notes (messages). I do not really use writeboard or sharing very much.

I would love to mimic this idea on my local machine (OSX Leopard) so I've been trying to brainstorm how best to accomplish it. My initial simple solution is to create a directory where all the related files will be stored and then create text files for to-do lists and messages. This idea is simple, but not very elegant.

I love the one page summary/overview page in Backpack, but the above solution doesn't accomplish it.

I was also thinking about how to do this using an application such as Journaler. Although I don't want to add all my files to the Journaler DB and I really don't like the way Journaler handles to-do lists.

So does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this??

Thanks!
