Anne Lamott on index cards
Merlin Mann | Apr 4 2005
Lots of people had been suggesting I read Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird (subtitled “Some Instructions on Writing and Life”) becaues she mentions how much she loves and relies on index cards for more than just composition. In casting about for more information, I Googled across this wonderful quote, courtesy of Orange Crate Art:

Last December, I posted a list of what I called, "accidental books about blogging," and included Bird-by-Bird. Here's what I said then, "I will tell you what I've told countless others for well over a decade. This is the single, best book ever written on the topic of writing and one of the best ever written on the topic of living. Sure, Elements of Style is the bible, but this book is about the soul. It is about giving oneself the freedom to write. It is about having a purpose to write other than to pen the great American novel. It is about the writing one should do on a weblog." Merlin, this book is for you. » POSTED IN:
