Hacking filing cabinets?
mcnicks | Apr 4 2006
I have managed to get most of the tools that I will need to commence my big stuff gathering / processing day. However, I am having a bit of trouble with my filing cabinets at work. I have plenty of space but the cabinets I am stuck with do not have compressor plates or anything that would help me file standard folders - it looks like I am stuck with hanging folders. Any ideas on how I could best use these filing cabinets? My only idea right now is to place labelled file folders or manilla folders inside the hanging folders (one file per folder). Has anybody tried that? Or has anybody got different solutions? Thanks, PS: Avoiding hanging folders is important for me because I will need to lift and carry project / reference material between sites. 2 Comments

That is what I am...Submitted by mcnicks on April 4, 2006 - 6:47am.
That is what I am testing out at the moment, and it seems to work ok. Once I get proper file folders it should be fine. My manilla folders sit completely inside my suspension folders, so I have tried putting some staples into a suspension folder about a centimetre from the bottom. Here is the result: I think it will work out quite well with one or more file folders per suspension folder. The manilla folder kind of sticks a bit at the moment, but I think that is due to the materials of the folders. David » POSTED IN:
