My trusted system is still...

My trusted system is still evolving, as I reached a certain point in my GTD-ing and then haven't pushed forward as arduously as I should.

But it is this:

A physical tickler file on my desk. (I've linked to pics of that before.)

A pocket Moleskine for capture/collection.

3x5s (adapted from the DIY hPDA templates) for Next Actions and Shopping Lists.

A Compact (Page Size: 4-1/4" x 6-3/4") Franklin Planner (which is actually part of a small purse I bought from them) which I use for Calendar and Record-keeping.

The Record Keeping is the wild card here for me. The most useful aspect of the Franklin system for the many years I used it was how easily I could retrieve information, whether it was when I mailed something or exactly what a particular agent or salesperson had said to me. I kept notes on the lined right page, and could tell when I'd done certain things by looking at the calendar/appt page on the left.

Maybe I'm just a creature of habit but that still feels the most comfortable to me, so I continue to use it. I've been tempted to try and switch to a total hPDA system, but the Record Keeping is less obvious. I'd have to create a new system for keeping up with that info, and I really do like having it on a calendar.

How do y'all keep up with such notes and records?

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
