Untimed Hard Landscape

Where do you put your untimed hard landscape items?

I have things to do during the day -- drop off/pick up dry cleaning, buy groceries, laundry -- that doesn't necessarily get done at a specific time during the day but needs to get done on specific days.

I have other appointments that do change from time to time that do affect what time of day to do the above.

So what's the best way to handle these? Put them on the calendar or in my todo list?

I use *two* calenders

I deal with this by using two calenders:

A monthly calender, which follows the strict GTD hard-landscape rules,
and a weekly calender that works more in the Franklin-Covey style.

The weekly calender: Things that HAVE to be done will be hilighted. Other things will be there, but subject to GTD-style ad-hoc changing. They serve as a reminder to what I thought the most important items of the week were when I was in "planning" mode-- which I take into consideration when pondering my Action lists.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
