Collecting ideas whilst walking

I walk to and from work everyday, its about a 40 minute journey. Especially on the way home, I will be thinking about one or more problems/projects at work, and at the moment this doesn't get collected.

I can't stop to write things down as I'd never get home, I'm thinking continuously. I struggle to remember it all to write down when I get there. Currently my system is to assume that I will remember it all again at another point hopefully in the near future.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

I thought about a little dictating machine but I'm walking through the city centre and I don't want to look stupid.

The Griffin iTalk is...

The Griffin iTalk is also supposed to be a good recorder.

I either use my mobile's voice recorder (mainly for personal items) or call and leave myself a voice mail (if it's work related). I also send a lot of text messages to my e-mail accounts, especially in meetings.

That CellTel / Backpack tool looks awesome. If I had more to keep track of outside my job (side business, big projects), I'd probably be a Backpack user. (I mainly use hipster PDA for personal stuff now).

I just got a CrackBerry today, so we'll see what that does to my life...

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
